After ten great years of ownership and many priceless memories gathered over numerous summer cruises including to the San Juan Islands in WA, Gulf Islands, Princess Louisa Inlet, Chatterbox Falls on the Sunshine Coast and Desolation Sound in BC Canada, Erie Canal in NY State, Block Island Sound in CT & RI, Chesapeake Bay, Patuxent and Choptank Rivers in MD and Nantico*ke River in DE, plus thousands of miles of "DA" road trips, along with a run out to Catalina Island from Huntington Beach, CA as well as many spring and fall outings with our sailing club friends on our home waters of Lake Pleasant on the outskirts of Phoenix, the time has come at last to sell our boat and pass her along to new owners. This is not about health issues or problems with the boat, but we are getting older and want to devote our remaining years to different forms of travel. To that end we made one last road trip from Arizona to Olympia, WA to put our boat up on consignment with Capital City Yachts brokers in Olympia, the same folks who handled the sale of the former A25 "Shatoosh" that once belonged to Hira Reid whose adventures were highlighted in her "Adventures of Shatoosh and Pashmina" blog.

La Dolce Vita is a 1971 early full displacement hull variant, hull #736, with optional motor sail rig including a mainsail, two conventional hank on head sails, that is a standard size jib and larger genoa, and an asymmetrical drifter/spinnaker.

We are at least her 4th owner since the earliest documentation passed on to us dating back to 1986. She had different names under those prior owners whose home ports included Illinois, Florida, north shore of Lake Erie in Ontario, and Idaho. During those early days she had made several crossings out to the Bahamas. The last owners previous to us had her out on Lake Powell, trailered her to the Pacific NW like we have but also put her on the ferry to Vancouver Island and trailered to Port Alberni and launched her there for a cruise to Broken Group islands on seaward side of Vancouver Island.

Documentation shows her original AD21 engine was replaced in 1986 with the 24 HP Yanmar 3GM30F with AquaDrive thrust bearing/CV joint shaft coupling that powers her to this day. Total number of hours on the engine is approximate, but as near as I can calculate from the maintenance records given to us is around 4,000, half the rated lifespan of a well maintained marine diesel. That is the most recent hand written notes prior to the last previous owner who bought it in 2001 showed it had around 2,700 hours when as far as we know the hour meter was replaced with a new zeroed out meter. That's as close as we can come to a definitive number. What we know for certain is that meter read 537 when we took ownership in March, 2014 and now reads 1,285, or an average of 75 hours per year. Most of those last ten years were closer to 100 hours per year, as COVID limited our activities in 2020 to just 16 engine hours, and in 2021 including during our last big trip to Erie Canal in 2021 we added 50 hours that year. Since the beginning of 2022 to date we've added just 30 hours, all of that on overnights to Lake Pleasant plus starting and running the engine long enough to warm up once every month to six weeks. The rest of the time she was kept in storage on the trailer.

When we took ownership she had undergone an interior restoration around 2001 with newly recovered cushions and interior hull lining which is still in good condition. Since then I've added a fiberglass layup hardtop over wheelhouse roof opening with teak opening hatchers and a 20 watt solar panel. I've replaced the existing 9 gallon holding tank for the Groco marine toilet with a 20 gallon tank, which in the process meant relocating battery banks, replacing conventional FLA batteries with AGMs, reworking the AC shore power electrics, updating the on board battery charger to a new digital ProNautic 12*15 with AGM charging mode capability.

A 2015 Gig Harbor Nisqually 7' 11" hard shell dinghy bought new from the Gig Harbor showroom in 2016 with fenders added for extra stability.

Alternator upgraded from stock 35 amp Hitachi to 100 amp Mark Grasser DC Solutions alternator and digital external voltage regulator.

Copies of maintenance and fuel logs under our watch included.

The trailer it sits on is a 1999 custom fitted Performance Trailers tandem axle aluminum trailer with torsion bar suspension and Kodiak disk surge brakes. It has been professionally reinforced to correct some previous metal fatigue issues and is stronger now than when new. Also has new brake calipers installed this year, hub bearings & seals serviced this year, tail lights recently upgraded to sealed LEDs and two new tires with the other two less than 4 year old.
